Designing a House

House Building

In this project you will be creating a floor plan for a house.  There will be certain tasks that you have to complete.  I will be giving you specific rules to follow too.  You will be using grid paper.  Each cm on the grid paper will be = to 1 foot.  Good luck!

  1.  Watch the video above.
  2. You will be creating a house out of a shipping container.  A shipping container is 48 feet long and 9 feet wide.  Figure out the total area and total perimeter of your shipping container.  Use this to sketch the perimeter or outside of your house.
  3. Before you start drawing, complete the math and plan it out.  Below are some of the criteria.  You need to follow it precisely        . Use a table to record your information.
  4. Your house needs a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom.  Be creative!  At least two of your rooms need to be composite figures.
  5. Create a garage for your property.  Research the average size garage.  Also, place you house on a property.  Figure out the perimeter and area of your yard.
  6. Write a short paragraph explaining your house and how you created it.  Share your thinking.

In my house there is four rooms Bathroom, Living Room/Guest Room, Kitchen And Bedroom . The sizes of the rooms are 72.25, sq ft2 169, sq ft2 109.75 sq ft2 and 75.25 sq ft2 (Bathroom, Living Room/Guest Room, Kitchen And Bedroom) the average room size in my House is 109.25 sq ft2. After that I added a pool (143 sq ft2) and Garage (153 sq ft) with a Lamborghini. At first I made the house and then divided the rooms. Next I thought what I would want in my house or what was common in a lot of houses. Then when I finished I thought a pool would be good to add and a lamborghini would be cool to add to. Then to drive it I needed a road so a made a road too.
